CSS Awarded $80M in contracts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

February 2018

FAIRFAX, VA -- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has awarded CSS the Scientific and Technical Mission Support Contract supporting the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) laboratories in Charleston, SC; Beaufort, NC; Oxford, MD, and Kasitsna Bay, AK; and supporting NCCOS Headquarters in Silver Spring, MD. The contract has an approximate value of $40 million and a period of performance of five years. This award follows a previous $40 million contract award in September, to support NCCOS’ Life Science, Administrative, and Technical Support Services, performed predominately at NCCOS Headquarters in Silver Spring, MD. These awards recognize CSS’ significant contributions to coastal resource management.

"It has been an honor to serve NOAA for more than 15 years, and we look forward to continuing to contribute to science-based stewardship of our coastal resources." CSS Senior Vice President Science Programs, Dianne Janczewski, Ph.D.

NCCOS conducts research to help sustain, protect, and restore coastal ecosystems, emphasizing linkages between environmental condition, coastal economies, and human health. CSS supports NCCOS providing expert level oceanographers, divers, spatial modeling experts, and social and other scientists, who produce comprehensive biogeographic assessments, and predictive models and tools used by decision makers and stakeholders to sustain thriving coastal communities and economies. CSS serves NOAA throughout US and territorial coasts and the Great Lakes.

"As we celebrate our company’s 30-year anniversary, these awards are a testament to our employee-owners’ exceptional performance." CSS CEO Joseph Craver "Everyone in our company is excited about these two awards as they will have a positive impact throughout CSS including our Fairfax, VA and Silver Spring, MD offices as well as our onsite staff at the NOAA NCCOS Laboratories."
